Historical Highlights of Westminster United Church
1920 - The need for a new Sunday school is raised, 1922 saw construction start on a Mission House that opened January 1923, and this was made possible when St. Andrews Presbyterian Church raised $26,000.00
- There were 123 members and a Sunday school of 116

1923 - Rev. C.D. Farquharson was inducted as first minister in August

1925 - At a Congregational meeting it was decided that Westminster Presbyterian Church "should go with the Presbyterian Church of Canada into the United Church of Canada."

1930 - The congregation votes to build a new church despite the clouds of the depression. The cornerstone was set by Rev. C.D. Farquharson on Sept. 8th

1931 - On February 1st, the Casavant Pipe Organ was dedicated thanks to the Women Association who purchased and paid for its installation.

1941 - On January 19th the mortgage for the Pipe Organ was burned, that October saw the first of the Memorial windows dedicated.

1945 - In October a second Memorial window was dedicated.

1946 - 1349 Dougall was purchased as Westminster's first manse

1948 - November 14th Our "War Memorial Window" was dedicated, a gift from the congregation in memory of the 14 men who gave their lives to "their King and Country" 3 honor plaques were also unveiled to honor the 228 men and women from our Church who served in the Second World War.

1954 - The original mortgage was burned.

1955 - Westminster is finally free from debt when it paid it's indebtedness to the "Home Mission Board".

1956 - The Church purchased 1666 Dougall to house our assistant minister.

1957 - 2127 Victoria Ave was purchased as the main manse and 1349 Dougall was sold

1959 - More Memorial windows were dedicated "to the Glory of God and the devoted work of the members of the Women's Association

1961 - A public address system was installed

1964 - The Church purchased another property next to 1666 Dougall with an eye on expansion

1968 - More renovations were made to the Church into its present configuration with a parking lot, a dedication ceremony was held in Sept. of 1969

1973 - Celebrated 50th Anniversary

1982 - Friendship center is renovated

1984 - Victoria Street manse is sold

1998 - Celebrated 75th Anniversary

2003 - The handi capable lift is dedicated
