This Sunday we meet following worship for our Annual Congregational Meeting. Lunch will be provided in the Friendship Centre and the meeting will begin around noon. The most significant item is a motion regarding the proposed “Hope Community” set to begin July 1st, 2010. You will be asked to commit (in principle) to the concept of shared ministry with Bedford, Central and Lincoln Road United Churches. The motion reads as follows …
The congregation of Westminster commits in principle to participate in the new “Hope Community” (United Church of Canada) beginning July 1, 2010. We understand that this will be a transitional strategy in which we will work together sharing resources, staff and programmes in an effort to strengthen the mission of the United Church in Windsor. Further, we understand that this commitment may mean significant change including worshiping in another building on Sunday mornings, new staff responsibilities and relationships as well as altered governance.

Worship this week will continue the Epiphany theme. Does the world always welcome God’s light? Will this culture embrace a message of love and forgiveness? Have we the courage to declare truth in the face of significant challenge? These are some of the themes we will look at in preparation for our annual meeting. Janey is our reader.

Thanks to Brian, Stacey, Braunte and the Westminster Family Band for their leadership in worship last week as Jean and David had their monthly week away as a result reduced hours. Thanks also to the volunteers who work in the office on Fridays as Judy takes her weekly day away, now working ¾ time. Albert will simply reduce his hours at the church each week.
